Alpine mountains ....Mt Kosciuszko..picture heavy

acres and acres of burnt trees ..legacy from fires in the snowy mountains a few years ago

SNOWW>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>may have been discoloured fron dust storms and icy from melt but still SNOW .

veiw from the top ,but coiming down...gee it was a climb... we made it even with major winds ..20 km going up and 80 coming down ( made the eight yr old walk on the inside as the wind was buffetting him side to side)

the photos cannot pass on haw stark but beautiful the alpine was ....

toilets stop .. modern pits from here the hard climb up and around to the summit

going up ..see the wind ..i came home with the worst burn i have ever ever had

mesh tracks to save the alpine plants ...the broad tooth rat has made good use ofthese ..with virtual highways underneath the mesh ........can see a lot of owl taunting ......hard on ankles tho.this is going up

semi permenent snow ...just beautiful ...there were ravens camping on this ..taking turns to soar the thermals All in all an excellent adventure .We walked 13 km and thought we might die going up ..I've decided that they must be crazy to do antartic exploring ..seriously crazy

next time we'd like to come in from charlottes pass.......we will all be a LOT fitter .
